Scores of entering medical students’ families and friends received a crash course in the demands and joys of medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center on Friday during the School of Medicine’s Family Day.
Administrators, faculty members and advanced medical students spent much of the day describing the support – academic and personal – that is available to the 165 brand-new students during their first year and beyond.
Dr. LouAnn Woodward, vice chancellor for health affairs and dean of the School of Medicine, said in her remarks to Family Day attendees, “We're going to take it from here, get them across that [graduation] stage and make you very proud.”
