A personal experience with organ donation has given Miss Mississippi Mary Margaret Hyer the inspiration to make the gift of life her platform as she prepares for the Miss America competition. Hyer visited with the transplant team and chatted with patients awaiting a transplant or who received an abdominal organ during an Aug. 8 visit to UMMC. Read More

Leaders cut ribbon on Center for Advancement of Youth's new home

A new location for the CAY with four times as much space as in its old facility will allow pediatric experts to provide care to more children with behavioral and developmental conditions. The new clinic site in northeast Jackson’s Highland Bluff Building will enhance endeavors in research and education that leaders say will result in better outcomes for children and their families.

People of the U: Dr. Frank Han

Chances are, few at UMMC play the accordion, speak four languages or produce aorta models on a 3D printer. Dr. Frank Han, cardiology fellow, does them all. A native of China who grew up In Britain, Han enjoys Irish step dancing, the Spanish salsa and playing classic French folk songs on the accordion. No wonder he calls himself, “A man of the United Nations.”

Anatomy of change: Pull-schedule session starts peds tower transition

UMMC’s pediatric expansion is scheduled to open in fall 2020, but plans for moving into the state-of-the-art facility are being made now.
