School of Nursing opens food pantry
Cabinets stocked with protein bars, oatmeal cups, tuna salad kits and boxes of macaroni and cheese are ready at the UMMC School of Nursing for students as well as any staff and faculty members who are facing emergencies. Started in January, the food pantry is also accepting donations.

Rich history, bright future: UMMC School of Nursing celebrates 75th anniversary
Alumni, faculty and students celebrated 75 years of nursing education for the UMMC School of Nursing Friday. The first academic nursing program in the state began as part of the School of Medicine in Oxford but moved to Jackson in 1956. The anniversary comes as the school anticipates construction of a new home on the Medical Center campus.

UMMC School of Nursing adding traditional BSN to Ole Miss campus in 2024
Starting in May 2024, students in Oxford can start nursing careers through a traditional bachelor of science in nursing program offered by the School of Nursing at UMMC. A $750,000 grant from AccelerateMS through the state’s Office of Workforce Development is funding the reinstatement of the four-year BSN program.
