Provider Teams
Published on Monday, February 7, 2022
A Provider Team is a team of providers comprised of attending physicians, residents, and fellow MDs, as well as medical students. Cardiology-EP Consults, Neurology, General Medicine teams, and Gynecologic Oncology teams are examples of provider teams. As providers rotate on and off duty, the chief resident or designee must define and update each Provider Team. Because Epic does not update the team automatically, this must be completed manually. Updating the Provider Team is critical for patient safety because it is one of the ways nurses and other medical personnel know who to phone or secure chat with when they need to communicate about a patient.
