Effective Wednesday, March 2, 2022, a new BPA in Epic will exist for nursing to complete the depression screening required for stroke patients. If the stroke order set (which contains an order for depression screening) is used, a BPA fires 12 hours post admission if the screening has not been completed. The BPA also fires if the patient has not received the screening when the discharge navigator is being used. Within the BPA is a link to the correct documentation fields to satisfy the order set.

High risk medications often require actions of a dual sign-off. To avoid wrong dose errors, a dual sign-off requirement for Heparin and Argatroban rate changes have now been built into the workflow when a rate change is being documented by the clinician. The change will take place Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
