Hester Davis Fall Scale Education and Care Plan BPA

An education title has been added to Epic for Hester Davis Fall Education. This addition replaces the fall precautions previously used in the generic nursing education titles. 

Additionally, effective May 17, 2021, a BPA has been put in place to fire after the initial Hester Davis Fall assessment is completed. The BPA shows the Hester Davis Fall Risk scale, changes in risk scoring, and prompts a clinician to select indicated care plans or resolve care plans when no longer needed.

Adult Trach Educator Consult

Starting May 17, 2021, a tracheostomy screening question is on the admission navigator. If the screening is answered Yes, a BPA fires to complete a consult the trach educator. 



Omnicell Places MAR Due Times on PRN Medications and Continuous Fluids

Effective May 17, 2021, a due time is placed on the MAR when a PRN medication or continuous fluid is pulled from the Omnicell storage unit. Continuous Infusions (i.e. Dopamine) will have an automatic due time previously added to the MAR. On the MAR, return doses should be documented with an action of "Return to Cabinet." The due time will then turn gray and will have a note of "Returned."

Splint Care

Effective May 26, 2021, OT/PT therapist will place a nursing communication order for splint monitoring. Once the order is acknowledged, the splint care task will appear on the Brain. Splint care is documented in the Daily Cares/Safety Flowsheet within Miscellaneous Devices.
