To improve patient safety with the new weight-based PCA options, we've removed the PCA panels from the preference lists and made the "Intravenous Patient Controlled Analgesia (IV PCA)" order set available for both Adults and PEDs. 

This order set contains the 3 PCA options available at UMMC (although we currently have a shortage of Morphine). Providers can only select 1 PCA. 

If the patient has no weight, a PCA cannot be ordered until a weight is entered and saved. Providers will only see the PCA panel which is appropriate for the patients recorded weight. In this example, the patient weighs 49 kg, so only the </= 60 kg panel will be reflected.

The order for the clinician bolus from PCA syringe will be found in the Medications section of Manage Orders. 

All order sets have been updated with the new weight-based panels. The clinician bolus will have to be ordered separately.
