Information Blocking ReminderIn March 2020, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) published the "21st Century Cures Act: Interoperability, Information Blocking, and the ONC Health IT Certification Program" final rule. This rule implements provisions of the 21st Century Cures Act 2 requiring providers, health information exchanges and networks, and health IT developers to not engage in "information blocking" by knowingly interfering with the access, exchange, or use of electronic health information. https://www.ama-assn.org/system/files/2021-01/information-blocking-part-1.pdf

Releasing Sensitive Order ResultsFor a limited subset of labs, it is possible for the provider to delay the release of a result. During the ordering of the lab, clinicians will have the option to select to have the results "Immediate or Manually Release Only". Providers must refer to the Tip Sheet: Releasing Sensitive Order Results |
