New Order Validation Point for Lab Orders

Starting on Thursday, May 26, when placing a lab order, Epic will check to make sure it is being placed in the correct context. Lab orders should always be placed with a Future or Standing status. You will see a pop up with a red box letting you know the Normal status is a mismatch if you try to sign a lab order with a Normal status in an encounter on the fly or as a Lab Collect order in a clinical visit. You will need to set the status to either Standing or Future prior to signing the order. This will prevent orders from being released in an incorrect encounter and make sure they are available to the lab when the patient arrives.
