Post-Procedure Debrief

The Post-Procedure Debrief has been created to standardize the process for specimen handling and tracking. The process began in the operating rooms and is being implemented to individual departments after training is completed.

Patient Preference for Pain Medication

The Joint Commission (TJC) has recently clarified circumstances when a provider may write PRN medication orders that allow variation in administration for pain medication of lesser potency, even though the patient's pain scale score calls for a higher-level medication. The medical record must accurately reflect that lesser potent medication was administered based on the patient preference. It is never acceptable to administer a medication of stronger potency based on patient preference.

Valuables/Belongings

The Valuables activity has been updated to include valuables and belongings. Nursing will notice more options for valuables/belongings and the ability to document the envelope number. Upon discharge, nursing can see the valuables/belongings that were collected on admission and document the return.

Adult Central Line Report

The Adult Central Line Report can now be found in the "Report Library." Find the report and click on the star to make the report a favorite. Then return to the patient list, select reports, and click on "Adult Central Line Report."

No Known Problems in Family History

When completing family history, the "No Known Problems" entry did not allow selection and firing. On August 19, 2019, the issue was corrected and now allows users to choose "No Known Problems."
