ALPS-COVID Research Study Parameters in Epic (Losartan Medication Administration)

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is currently performing clinical research trials to find treatments for COVID-19. The high blood pressure drug, Losartan, is a drug that has an established safety profile readily available for immediate use and may be effective as a treatment for COVID-19. Researchers theorize that the use of Losartan will reduce how aggressive and deadly a COVID-19 infection is by disrupting how the virus binds to the body at the molecular level. Nursing documentation on MAR includes checking parameters prior to medication administration.
