Unknown Patients in Epic

You may notice a slight change with unknown patients in Epic. To improve patient safety and utilize Epic alerts based on patient age, the date of birth standardization of 121 years of age for unknown patients will no longer be utilized.

Instead, pediatric patients will have a date of birth at the closest estimated age to the patient. For example: an unknown patient that appears to be nine years old, would have a date of birth of: (date of patient creation) minus nine years.

Adult unknown patients will have a date of birth of 1/1/1900.
