UPDATED: New Hyperkalemia Treatment Orderset (Jackson Only)

In January 2019, UMMC approved a new order set for management of patients with hyperkalemia. This is now available in Epic. This order set will replace the order for the Reuben’s IV infusion to treat hyperkalemia.

The new Hyperkalemia Management Orderset provides evidence-based interventions for cardiac stabilization, hydration/volume management, potassium redistribution, potassium elimination, and monitoring for patients with hyperkalemia.

The new Hyperkalemia order set is available in Epic under the name Hyperkalemia Management Orderset and will also appear when searching for Reuben’s Cocktail. Please note, the current “Reuben’s Cocktail” will be removed from Epic on June 10, 2019, as it has been replaced by the new Hyperkalemia Management Orderset.
