ePrescribing Downtime - December 17, 2019

Electronic prescribing of medications will not be available during the downtime which begins Tuesday, December 17, at 3:00 p.m. Prescriptions will automatically print. Please be sure to provide patients with their printed RX.

This will impact all electronic submissions- New Orders, Refills and response transactions such as Refill Requests.

The downtime should last approximately two hours. An all-clear e-mail will be sent when the updates are complete.

During this downtime prescribers will notice a yellow warning that the medication will not be ePrescribed. If they continue and sign the medication, it will print.

New features included with the update:

  • Increased the medication instruction size to 1,000 characters.
  • Prescribers will be able to indicate they shouldn't receive refill requests for an order they place, or specifically who should receive the refill request for an order.
    • For outpatient clinics: If "Do not send renewal requests to me" is checked, but the RenewalProvider field is left blank, the renewal message will not be sent to a specific provider and the pharmacy will have to determine who to send the renewal to.
    • For inpatient areas: If "Do not send renewal requests to me" is checked, but the Renewal Provider field is left blank, refill requests for prescriptions ordered at discharge will be automatically sent to the patients PCP on file in Epic.
