Temporary closure of State Street entrance to UMMC campus
October 9, 2024
TO: All UMMC Faculty, Staff and Students
FROM: Dr. Jonathan Wilson, Chief Administrative Officer
SUBJECT: Temporary closure of State Street entrance to UMMC campus
The UMMC vehicle entrance from State Street in front of University Hospital and across from the former Back Yard Burger will be closed for three days beginning Monday, Oct. 14 through Wednesday, Oct. 16 for repairs and asphalt repavement. The redirection of traffic from that location will impact shuttle bus routes to and from Veterans Memorial Stadium and the campus.
What you need to know:
- The new shuttle bus routes will add time to the normal bus service so please allow for extra travel time.
- Digital signs and traffic barricades will be installed near the entrance to notify the public, students and employees about the upcoming closure.
- Sidewalk access will remain open to the University Hospital entrance.
- Bus stops will remain the same, but bus drivers will take different routes via Lakeland Drive and around campus to avoid the repair area.
- Additional buses will be added to the routes to help alleviate delayed times as much as possible.
- Text messages will be sent through the UMMC AlertU Everbridge App to notify when work begins and when work is complete.
We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the road conditions for the main entrance to our campus.
