Appointment of Chief Financial Officer
Thursday, April 13, 2023
TO: UMMC Faculty, Staff and Students
FROM: Dr. LouAnn Woodward, Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs
Dean, School of Medicine
SUBJECT: Appointment of Chief Financial Officer
I’m pleased to announce that Jennifer Sinclair has accepted the role of UMMC’s chief financial officer, effective April 24.
She will have the invaluable opportunity to work alongside Nelson Weichold, who has been the Medical Center’s CFO since July 2019, for several weeks before he leaves to take a position in his home state with Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
As chief financial officer, Jennifer will have oversight of the finances and budget for the entire Medical Center and serve as an institutional executive leader.
Jennifer started her career with Ernst & Young in Jackson and Memphis and has more than 23 years’ experience as a health care executive.
Her most recent position was as a vice president with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi in Flowood. Prior to that, she served as vice president and regional chief financial officer at Bon Secours Mercy Health in Toledo, Ohio, and executive vice president of operations and senior vice president of finance at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.
She earned the BS in accounting and MBA from Mississippi State University. And in addition to being a CPA, she was named a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional.
I want to thank Nelson for his steadfast and exemplary work as our CFO. Under his leadership and through his strategic support, UMMC navigated through some unprecedented challenges and the trajectory of the Medical Center is better because of him.
Please join Nelson and me in welcoming Jennifer to UMMC and in supporting her as she settles into this challenging role.
Thank you.
