Alert U Emergency Notification System Test
September 8, 2023
To:All UMMC Personnel
From:Dr. Jonathan Wilson, Chief Administrative Officer
Subject:Alert U Emergency Notification System Test
At noon on Sept. 12, the Medical Center will conduct a test of its enhanced Alert U emergency notification system. The updated system, launched July 1, expands our capabilities to provide emergency alerts to employees, students, families and visitors.
If you have downloaded and activated the Everbridge mobile app and your current cell number in your Workday profile, you will receive Alert U messages during the system test.
To ensure you receive a text message during the test and in the event of a real emergency, log in to Workday to confirm your mobile number is in the correct field and the "Phone Type" is set to "Mobile". Instructions on how to update your phone number in Workday can be found in the Workday Phone Number section of the quick reference guides.
Another important communication tool in cases of emergency is the Everbridge mobile safety app. The app offers a wide range of safety features and can be found in the Apple App or Google Play stores. After downloading the app, open it on your phone and select University of Mississippi Medical Center from the dropdown menu and follow the steps in the App Sign-in and Setup guide. (Some features within the app are only available on the main Jackson campus.)
Additional information about Alert U can be found here.
Thank You.
