The road to 10: celebrating a decade of population health

The John D. Bower School of Population Health is looking ahead to an important milestone: 10 years of education, research, service and partnership.

As the school prepares to mark its first decade, SOPH is reflecting on the people, programs and partnerships that have shaped its growth. What began as a bold commitment to population health has grown into a school with academic programs spanning population health science, public health, preventive medicine, biostatistics and data science.

The milestone offers an opportunity to recognize the faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, affiliates and community partners who have helped build SOPH’s foundation. It is also a moment to look forward to the next chapter of the school’s work in Mississippi and beyond.

“An anniversary like this gives us a chance to pause and celebrate the people who have shaped SOPH’s first decade,” said Bernadette Grayson, PhD, associate dean for academic affairs, who is helping organize the anniversary activities. “It also gives us an opportunity to strengthen connections across our school community and look ahead to the work we will continue doing together.”

Over the coming year, SOPH will continue preparing for opportunities to celebrate its history, highlight its impact and strengthen connections across the school’s community.

The road to 10 is not only a celebration of how far SOPH has come. It is also a reminder of the work ahead as the school continues advancing health through education, research and service.
