Dean's welcome
Dear Colleagues, Students, and Friends,
As the leaves turn and the air finally hints at fall, I’m delighted to share this edition of the Bower Buzz. The fall semester has been full of momentum, collaboration and meaningful work across every corner of the John D. Bower School of Population Health.
Inside this issue, you’ll find highlights from our students and faculty who continue to represent SOPH with excellence. You’ll also meet new faces joining our ranks, learn about recent academic accomplishments, and see how our programs continue to expand their reach across Mississippi and beyond.
This fall, our student groups and faculty teams have shown the best of population health in action – connecting evidence, education and compassion to improve the health and well-being of communities statewide. Whether it’s the creation of the Bower Center for Culinary Medicine or an induction into the UMMC Honors College, our shared mission continues to thrive through the hard work and dedication of the students and faculty at the Bower School of Population Health.
As we approach the close of the semester, I want to thank each of our students and faculty for the energy, creativity and heart they bring to this school every day. Together, we’re not only advancing population health science – we’re building a culture of collaboration and care that’s setting the gold standard for what’s next.
Warm regards,
