Research Day showcases student and faculty scholarship

The John D. Bower School of Population Health’s 2026 Research Day brought together students, faculty and partners to showcase the depth and impact of research across the school. The annual event provides a platform for presenting new findings, sharing ideas and strengthening a culture of inquiry that is central to SOPH’s mission.

Throughout the day, presenters explored a wide range of topics reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of population health. From maternal and child health to chronic disease, health policy and data science, the presentations demonstrated how research at SOPH is grounded in real-world challenges and focused on improving outcomes across communities.

Research Day also serves as an important training ground for students. By presenting their work in a professional setting, students gain experience communicating complex ideas, engaging with peers and faculty and contributing to ongoing conversations in the field.

“Research Day is an opportunity for our students to step into the role of scholar,” said Dr. Abigail Gamble. “It allows them to share their work, receive feedback and see how their efforts fit into the larger mission of improving population health. These experiences are critical in preparing them for the next stage of their careers.”

In addition to student presentations, faculty participation reinforced the collaborative environment at SOPH. Mentorship, interdisciplinary work and applied research were evident throughout the program, underscoring the school’s commitment to developing solutions that have meaningful impact.

Research Day continues to be a cornerstone event for SOPH, reflecting both the academic rigor of the school and its focus on translating research into action.
