Research Day 2024

The John D. Bower School of Population Health hosted its 2nd annual Research Day. The event featured 23 oral abstracts presented by faculty, master's, and doctoral students in the departments of population health science, biostatistics and data science, and preventive medicine.

Grand Rounds, Lectures, and Speakers

John D. Bower School of Population Health students had first-hand learning opportunities thanks to the John D. Bower Population Health Distinguished Lectureship, Forge AHEAD, the Population Health Science Lecture Series, the Biostatistics and Data Science Seminar Series, and Grand Rounds.

Dr. Jasmine Miller-Kleinhenz, assistant professor of population health science, hopes her study will bring awareness to the complexity of factors contributing to poor breast cancer outcomes in all women.

The study of 1,764 women diagnosed with breast cancer found that those living in historically redlined areas were more likely to have negative outcomes.

Dr. Utsav Nandi, an emergency department physician, earned a master's degree from the School of Population Health to better serve his patients.

For the past year-and-a-half, on a portion of the Medical Center campus, graves holding the remains of patients who resided at a long-shuttered institution have yielded an assortment of personal items. Many are as poignant as they are revealing.
