Population Health Science PhD students inducted into the UMMC Honors College
Two population health science PhD students – McKing Amedari and Kerri Ivey – have been inducted into the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Honors College, joining a distinguished group of students recognized for their academic excellence, professionalism and commitment to advancing health care and research.
The UMMC Honors College provides students from UMMC’s six health professions schools and the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy with opportunities for academic distinction and educational enrichment. Designed to foster interprofessional collaboration, the program brings together students from diverse disciplines to strengthen critical thinking, explore innovation in health care and address pressing issues affecting patients and communities.
The Honors College is a year-long, in-person program running from June through May. Participants engage in monthly interactive sessions that emphasize teamwork, leadership, and holistic approaches to health care. Eligibility is limited to students in professional or doctoral programs who rank in the top 25 percent of their class, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate outstanding professional conduct.
Amedari and Ivey’s induction highlights the growing influence of population health perspectives within interprofessional education at UMMC. Their participation will help bring a deeper understanding of social determinants, health equity, and community-based research to the collaborative discussions that define the Honors College experience.
Please join the School of Population Health in congratulating McKing Amedari and Kerri Ivey on this well-deserved recognition!
