Dean's Welcome
As we move through 2026, I continue to be inspired by the work taking place across the John D. Bower School of Population Health.
This issue highlights important milestones across the School of Population Health, including a dynamic Research Day, national recognition for our faculty and the continued impact of the Asylum Hill Project, which recently marked its 1,000th exhumation. These moments reflect our shared commitment to advancing knowledge and applying it in ways that improve health across Mississippi.
Our students continue to demonstrate excellence both inside and outside the classroom. From research presentations to community engagement, they are preparing to lead in a field that demands both rigor and compassion.
Our faculty remain deeply engaged in scholarship, mentorship and service. Their work continues to shape the future of public health and healthcare delivery while creating meaningful opportunities for our students.
We also remain committed to strengthening partnerships across our state. Through outreach and collaboration, the School of Population Health is addressing real challenges and working to improve outcomes where they matter most.
Thank you for being part of our community and for your continued dedication to improving population health.
Warm regards,

Thomas Dobbs, MD, MPH
