Dean's welcome

Dear colleagues, students, alumni, and partners,

As we begin a new year at the John D. Bower School of Population Health, I am pleased to share this issue of our newsletter, which reflects the energy, innovation, and commitment that continue to define our school. Across these pages, you will see how our faculty, students, and partners are advancing population health through research, education and service that matter deeply to Mississippi and beyond.

This issue highlights important developments in our academic programs, including the launch of new pathways and refinements that make our degrees more accessible, flexible, and responsive to the needs of today’s learners and health systems. You will also read about impactful scholarship from SOPH faculty and trainees, national recognition for our experts, and research that is already informing policy and practice in our state.

Equally important, this newsletter captures the vibrant life of our school outside the classroom. Student-led events, community gatherings, and moments of connection remind us that population health is built on relationships, collaboration, and shared purpose. From cultural celebrations to service-oriented activities, these experiences strengthen our community and support the well-being of those who learn and work here.

As we look ahead, SOPH remains committed to preparing the next generation of leaders who will tackle complex health challenges with rigor, compassion, and equity at the center of their work. Thank you for being part of this community and for your continued support of our mission.

With gratitude and optimism,

Dobbs Signature Transparent
