Celebrating community and wellness: a recap of recent SOPH student events

As the Bower School of Population Health community settled into the 2024-25 academic year, students, faculty, and staff came together for a series of engaging events that fostered camaraderie, self-care, and creative expression.

The school year was celebrated at the Spring Semester Kickoff at Highball Lanes, where the SOPH community indulged in a friendly competition and camaraderie. This spirited event provided the perfect opportunity for everyone to bond, unwind, and recharge before diving back into their studies and research. The "work hard, play hard" mentality was on full display as attendees showcased their bowling skills and celebrated their spares and strikes.

In another wellness-focused initiative, the Bower School hosted a chair massage event that went beyond just physical pampering. Students and faculty were treated to complimentary massages from Therapeutic Connections, but with a twist - in exchange for the relaxation, participants committed to performing acts of kindness in the community. This unique activity seamlessly combined self-care and altruism, fostering a greater sense of compassion throughout the SOPH family.

The holiday season brought out the artistic side of the Bower School community, as students gathered to decorate festive ornaments. This creative outlet allowed everyone to take a much-needed study break, express their individuality, and bond over the joyful activity. The resulting ornaments were a vibrant display of the diverse talents and cultural backgrounds represented within the school.

These events exemplify the Bower School's dedication to cultivating a well-rounded student experience. By providing opportunities for recreation, wellness, and artistic expression, the school ensures its learners have the support and resources to thrive both academically and personally.
