UPSTART Summer Research Program
UPSTART 2021 Students and Mentors with Dr. Sreenivas Koka (SOD Dean) and Dr. Jason Griggs (SOD Associate Dean of Research)
The Undergraduate and Professional Student Training in Advanced Research Techniques (UPSTART) summer research program provides an opportunity for eligible dental, pre-dental, pre-graduate and high school students to participate in faculty-mentored research at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry. The program includes weekly seminars on the conduct of research and culminates with a symposium of student research presentations. Participants are also encouraged to present their projects at the annual School of Dentistry Research Day.
UPSTART Summer 2022
UPSTART 2022 program details and application information will be available March 1, 2022 with applications due by March 24, 2022. Please email program director Dr. Amol Janorkar to be placed on the mailing list. Please email Millicent Bingham if you need more information about particular projects or the abstracts for the projects. For intellectual property reasons, we cannot email the abstracts to you.
- We recognize that DMD and DH students have limited number of hours available to participate in research during the summer. - We will have a number of stipends available for UPSTART participants. Please make sure to read section 7 of the UPSTART guidelines for the application process. You will need to submit the UPSTART recommendation form as well as the UPSTART student personal statement form as part of this application to receive this stipend.
- If you applied for the UPSTART program via fax, mail, or if you hand-delivered your application: Please send Dr. Janorkar an email indicating so.
