Faculty Research

The purpose of this page is to provide assistance on seeking and obtaining funding for research, educational and service projects.

The School of Dentistry Office of Research serves as point of contact and manages the grant preparation and approvals process within the School of Dentistry. Once approved, proposals are forwarded to the UMMC Office of Research for institutional review and submission.

Sponsored projects of all kinds must be routed through the School of Dentistry Office of Research. This includes proposals for research, educational and service projects for funding from federal agencies, foundations, industry and UMMC. Routing is required for in-kind as well as financial support.

If you are new to the grant submission process, it is important to become familiar with the steps that must be completed before a proposal is approved for submission. Even if you have submitted grants many times, the process is subject to frequent revisions. We therefore encourage all investigators to be in touch with the SOD Office of Research early in the grant development process so that we may assist with making the submission process as smooth and efficient as possible. For a step-by-step overview, refer to the SOD Office of Research grant submission process.
