Main ContentGoals and Objectives
Graduates of this program will have advanced knowledge in diagnosis of oral and maxillofacial diseases and advanced clinical skills in providing care for their patients. In completing this program, the graduate will be able to interact with a variety of health care professionals in many health care settings and understand the role each profession plays in the overall treatment of patients, and to coordinate patient treatment.
Primary goals and objectives
Primary goals and objectives of the AEGD/GPR program include:
- The resident will act as a primary oral health care provider for the program’s patient pool. Primary oral health care covers a spectrum from emergent to comprehensive care.
- The resident will receive a combination of didactic and/or clinical educational experiences covering the preponderance of the disciplines of dentistry.
- The resident will provide oral health care to a diverse patient pool, including special needs patients.
- The resident will participate in program and departmental organized community service activities.
- The resident will obtain experience in treating patients in a hospital setting which includes operating room, emergency room, and/or consults.
