Neurosurgery welcomes specialized experts in cerebrovascular disease, pituitary and skull base tumors, and neuro-oncology

Allison Strickland, MD joined the Department of Neurosurgery as an Assistant Professor in July 2020. She completed her neurosurgical residency at the University of Oklahoma and her endovascular neurosurgery fellowship at the University of Miami. She is dually-trained in open and endovascular neurosurgery and specializes in the minimally invasive transradial access technique for neurovascular procedures. She specializes in the surgical treatment of vascular disorders of the brain and spine including brain aneurysms, stroke, arteriovenous malformations, dural arteriovenous fistulas, intracerebral hemorrhage and carotid artery stenosis.

Marcus Zachariah, MD, PhD joined the Department of Neurosurgery as an Assistant Professor in September 2020. He completed his neurosurgical training at Harvard Medical School/ Massachusetts General Hospital and his pituitary and skull base surgery fellowship at The Ohio State University. He has advanced, comprehensive training in open and endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery. He specializes in the surgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the brain including pituitary adenomas, craniopharyngiomas, meningiomas, Rathke's cleft cysts, gliomas and metastasis. He also leads the UMMC brain tumor research laboratory.

M. Omar Chohan, MD joined the Department of Neurosurgery as an Associate Professor with secondary appointments in Neurology and Radiation Oncology in September 2020. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of New Mexico and fellowship training in neurosurgical oncology at the Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/Weill Cornell Medical College. He specializes in the treatment of primary and metastatic tumors of the brain and spine including gliomas, meningiomas, and metastatic brain tumors. He provides clinical expertise in brain mapping and intra-operative fluoroscopy for resection of brain tumors. Additionally, he has extensive surgical expertise in epilepsy surgery including resective, ablative, and neuromodulation techniquesM.
