JBI Collaboration
JBI Mississippi Centre for Evidence-Based Practice: A US Cochrane Affiliate
Overview
The JBI Mississippi Centre for Evidence-Based Practice is located within the UMMC School of Nursing. The Centre promotes the mission of JBI and engages both academic and practice associates in evidence generation, synthesis, transfer, and utilization.
Background
The Centre began these national and international partnerships in 2015 to provide access to robust, evidence-based practice and research tools for faculty, students, and community partners. The Centre provides an opportunity for vibrant, collaborative learning and research by faculty and students through interaction with real-world, health-care practice problems.
The School of Nursing is affiliated with more than 6,400 hospitals, community health centers, health departments, mental health facilities, private practice clinics, community clinics, and schools, offering students extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration in clinical practice and research. All educational programs offered at the UMMC School of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
Activities
The Centre contributes to the production of valid Systematic Reviews and Evidence Implementation Reports through its faculty scholars, DNP students, and scholars in the practice community. The existing relationships with our practice partners build awareness of the JBI products and services within the UMMC Centre of Excellence community of interest. An established history of online graduate program offerings expands the potential reach of the Centre beyond geographic boundaries.
The Centre offers the JBI Comprehensive Systematic Review Training Program (CSRTP), which enables participants to learn how to conduct robust systematic reviews of different evidence types in order to provide the strongest possible evidence to inform decision-making or clinical guidelines in health care.
