Dr. Lan Zhou speaks in Hallmarks of Cancer series

Dr. Lan Zhou, professor of pathology and genomic medicine at Houston Methodist Academic Institute and professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College at Cornell University, was the guest speaker for the latest Hallmarks of Cancer seminar on Nov. 5.

She discussed the topic “Targeting JAG1 Overcomes Pancreatic Cancer Immunotherapy Resistance by Reinvigorating cDC1 and CD8 T-cells.”

With more than two decades of experience in molecular pathology and transfusion medicine, Zhou has held prominent academic and clinical roles at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. Her research, funded by multiple R01 grants from the National Institutes of Health, focuses on Notch signaling, hematopoietic stem cell biology and cancer immunotherapy.

Zhou followed Dr. Yuliya Pyalyeva-Gupta, who spoke on determinants of B cell function in cancer for the July seminar, and Dr. Xiaohong Li, who discussed the impact of bone microenvironment on prostate cancer dormancy, metastasis and enzalutamide resistance in September.
