Cancer Registries

Cancer registries support the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s mission of research, education and patient care.

UMMC is home to:

• The Mississippi Cancer Registry that maintains a confidential database of cancer diagnosis, stage and mortality reported by cancer registries from across the state.
• The UMMC Cancer Registry that provides a system to monitor cancer and certain benign diseases diagnosed and/or treated at UMMC.

The registries strive to:

• Accurately report cancer data for Mississippi and UMMC to support patient care, research and cancer control.
• Support clinical cancer care with treatment and prevention studies to enhance the treatment options for patients and the community.

Data maintained by the Mississippi Cancer Registry must meet requirements of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Program of Cancer Registries.
