A Year of Progress, a Future of Promise

As we approach the close of another year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the tremendous progress we’ve made together at the Cancer Center and Research Institute. This has been a year of growth, discovery and meaningful impact that would not have been possible without the dedication of our team members and supporters who work every day to improve the lives of those we serve.

With a new year comes new opportunities. In early 2026, we’ll begin an exciting new chapter as the Cancer Center and Research Institute starts its move to the UMMC Pavilion. This move represents more than a change of address — it marks an evolution in how we deliver comprehensive, compassionate cancer care.

Also new is our a patient navigation program designed to guide individuals and families through their first CCRI visits, ensuring personalized support. We’re also introducing an enhanced check-in experience, combining user-friendly computerized kiosks with helpful staff members.

Together, these innovations will make care more seamless, supportive and patient-centered.

Our Cancer Biology PhD track will begin the spring semester in January with three students.

Throughout 2026, we’ll be working toward National Cancer Institute designation, growth in our research and education missions, and progress in It’s About Time: The Campaign for the UMMC Cancer Center and Research Institute, which is helping fund construction of a five-story home for CCRI.

As we look forward to a new year, I am filled with gratitude for the collaboration that fuels our mission and optimism for the breakthroughs and advancements to come. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

Warm wishes for a joyful holiday season and a healthy, hope-filled new year.
