April brings a spotlight to critical advancements and awareness efforts in cancer research and care. This month recognizes Esophageal, Testicular, and Head and Neck Cancer Awareness, underscoring the profound personal and public health impact of these diseases. Alongside awareness, our community celebrates scientific innovation and professional milestones: from Dr. Pier Paolo Claudio’s presentation on functional precision medicine at the AACR conference, to a significant publication by Dr. Jawed A. Siddiqui exploring ribosome biogenesis in pancreatic cancer. We also applaud Dr. Nicole Anderson’s leadership appointment within the Zebrafish Disease Models Society. Finally, we are excited to welcome Jay Thompson, our new program manager, who will spearhead the launch of a vital lung cancer screening initiative aimed at improving early detection and saving lives.
