Director's message

“Progress is not achieved by luck or accident, but by working daily”—Epictetus. Well, considering we are in a “growth phase,” this quote certainly holds true to our daily progress. I’m excited to see all the newness with our cancer center growth. Whether it’s the additions to our leadership team, new cancer researchers, new grants, new novel clinical trials, new high impact publications, or the increases we’ve seen in our clinical volume - the inertia is moving forward in a positive direction, day by day. Thank you all for your hard work.

At the end of the month, I plan to summarize our growth and share more about our future plans at the annual CCRI Town Hall, scheduled for Thursday, September 30, 2024, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. I’m inviting all UMMC faculty, staff and students to join the discussion on cancer-related clinical and research initiatives achieved during the Fiscal Year 2024, as well as those planned for Fiscal Year 2025.
