Director's message
This month, we focus on strengthening collaborations and enhancing cancer research and patient care through faculty recruitment and regional partnerships. I’m pleased to announce the establishment of the Deep South Consortium in Oncology (DSCO), which aims to tackle the significant challenges cancer poses in our region by reducing health disparities and improving care quality. I’m also excited to welcome a new instructor who will focus on cancer biology and health disparities. Our research efforts are expanding as we investigate new anti-cancer agents that help patients overcome treatment resistance and minimize side effects. We have also introduced a new navigator to improve communication among patients, families and health care teams and partnered with the American Cancer Society to launch a pilot program providing essential non-clinical support for cancer patients and caregivers. Ultimately, these initiatives are designed to provide comprehensive support for patients and ensure they receive the care and resources they need throughout their cancer journey.
