Update from the Oxford Instructional Site
Greetings from Oxford!
Spring has sprung, and the Oxford campus is flurrying with activities in preparation for the upcoming launch of the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (TBSN) program. As the new cohort of 50 students prepares to embark upon their nursing education journey, the TBSN faculty team is working diligently in anticipation of student arrival.
The Oxford TBSN program director, J. Camille Beals, DNP, MAEd, RN, CNE leads the expert team of nursing educators, including Kristi Reece, DNP, FNP-BC, CNE; Alicia Ciarloni, DNP, MSN, APRN, CNL, FNP-C; Meagan Cherry, MSN, FNP; and Kayla Johnson, MSN, RN.
Renovations to the fourth floor of the South Oxford Center are currently underway, which will house classroom instructional and simulation learning spaces as well as study, office and student lounge areas.
Meanwhile, the Accelerated BSN (ABSN) students and faculty recently attended the nursing legislative summit in Jackson. They learned from Mississippi lawmakers, the Mississippi Board of Nursing and health care stakeholders about current nursing policy, issues and trends.
Students and faculty in the ABSN program are also gearing up for a mass casualty simulation next month. The learning experience will include first responders, and community members of the interprofessional health care team alongside student nurses assimilating nursing knowledge, judgment and skills accumulated thus far in their ABSN program.
