
Dr. Jawed Siddiqui receives SBUR Young Investigator Award for Urologic Research Contributions
Dr. Jawed Siddiqui, assistant professor in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at the School of Medicine, has been honored with the Young Investigator Award by the Society of Basic Urologic Research (SBUR). This award celebrates rising researchers who have made impactful contributions to urologic studies within five years of securing their first faculty role.
Siddiqui participated with fellow researchers at the SBUR Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona, where the recognition was officially presented.

“Receiving this recognition is both an honor and responsibility,” said Siddiqui. “I look forward to sharing our research findings and collaborating with my colleagues; together, we can tackle the challenges posed by metastatic cancer.”
Siddiqui's research focuses on musculoskeletal disorders and oncology, specifically in drug discovery, molecular biology and the challenges of bone metastasis in prostate and breast cancer. His pioneering efforts aim to develop targeted therapies for these malignancies, addressing a significant medical challenge. With extensive experience in bone metastasis, he has created genetically engineered mouse models and patient-derived tumoroids to examine various cancers, a skill refined during his tenure at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
In addition to the SBUR, Siddiqui has earned several prestigious honors, including the Alice L. Jee Young Investigator Award from the Orthopedic Research Society, the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research Young Investigator Grant from the British Bone Society, and the New Investigator Award from UNMC. Siddiqui has also received the Prostate Cancer Research Program Idea Development Award from the Department of Defense, the METAvivor Metastatic Cancer Grant and the American Cancer Society Grant for his studies on cancer metabolism and metastasis. His research has led to numerous patents that have played a critical role in the commercialization of new treatments.
