Zeb K. Henson, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Zeb Henson assumed the role of chief medical officer on Aug. 1, 2026. Henson provides leadership for initiatives that advance quality, safety, patient experience and value throughout the health system while supporting UMMC's mission of education, research and patient care.
He is a professor of medicine and pediatrics and earned his medical degree and completed internal medicine/pediatrics residency training at UMMC. He has directed the medicine/pediatrics residency program since 2019.
He has served on the Medical Center faculty since 2010 and has held numerous leadership roles in clinical care, medical education and institutional leadership. Prior to this role, he served as chief of medical staff, helping lead initiatives focused on quality, patient and workforce safety and physician engagement.
He is a member of the Academy for Excellence in Education and has received numerous teaching honors from the School of Medicine, including pre-clinical professor of the year, clinical professor of the year and induction into the Norman C. Nelson Order of Teaching Excellence.
