We are creating a healthier Mississippi

Greetings and welcome to the website of the University of Mississippi Medical Center!

I hope this site provides the information you are seeking, whether you are a student interested in a health professions career, a patient making decisions about health care for yourself or your family, a prospective employee or business partner, or one of thousands of other people who interact with us on a daily basis.

We often describe ourselves as Mississippi’s only “academic medical center.” That’s because we have three, interrelated missions:  health professions education, health sciences research and patient care.  Each of these missions informs and enhances the others. That powerful dynamic sets us apart from other hospitals, educational institutions and research organizations.

We operate in all corners of the state, with telehealth sites, clinical preceptors, hospitals and clinics from the Gulf Coast to Corinth to the Delta.

Our state has many health challenges that we are committed to addressing through workforce growth, discovery and application of new treatments and cures, and an increased emphasis on prevention and wellness throughout the lifespan.

UMMC has three missions, but our 10,000 employees share one goal that unites us: To create A Healthier Mississippi. Thank you for your interest and support.

Sincerely,
LouAnn Woodward, MD
Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs
and Dean, School of Medicine
