Lisa Didion, MD
Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs
Dr. Lisa Didion assumed her role as associate vice chancellor of clinical affairs on Aug. 1, 2026. She provides strategic and operational leadership for UMMC's clinical mission, working closely with administrative and physician leaders to support the delivery of patient-centered, high-quality care across the health system.
Previously, Dr. Didion served as UMMC's chief medical officer, in which she oversaw accreditation, clinical risk management, infection prevention, quality and safety and performance improvement. Her career trajectory leading to CMO includes the administrative roles of associate CMO for Children's of Mississippi, the Office of Patient Experience's first medical director and the first medical director of care coordination.
Throughout her career, Dr. Didion has led initiatives focused on patient safety, value, workforce well-being, operational improvement and high reliability. Her work has helped guide the development of programs that promote team-based care with a patient-first perspective in an effort to make the system of care efficient and effective for patients and the health care workforce.
Dr. Didion received undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Iowa. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, serving as chief resident, and was an assistant professor at the Medical College of Georgia from 2009-2011 before coming to UMMC.
She is currently a professor in the Department of Pediatrics and is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine. She remains clinically active as a pediatric hospitalist for Children's of Mississippi.
