The MCVR Director, Dr. Lei Zhang, is the principal investigator (PI) of 2 funded grants, which will be considered as initial MCVR projects. The current active funds are:

1. A Proposal to Establish the Mississippi Violence Injury Prevention Program (MS-VIP)

   • Phase 2: Time frame: 07/01/2024 – 06/30/2027

     • Award: $4,268,296

2. SIMM Initiative

   • Time frame: 09/30/2022 – 09/29/2025

   • Funder: Department of Health and Human Services

   • Award: $2,082,714.67

MCVR will seek institutional support from UMMC, private foundation grants and donations, and also collaborative funding through partnerships with community organizations.
