Main ContentFrequently Asked Questions
We know you have questions, and we have answers!
Q: When should I contact the UMMC Specialty Pharmacy?
A: You should contact us if:
- You need help right away or have some kind of disaster. (Ask for a pharmacist or management.)
- Any of your information has changed, such as your phone number, address, insurance, or payment information.
- You are starting a new medicine and need to know if it will interact with anything you are already taking.
- You have questions or concerns about your medicines or treatment.
- You think there might have been a mistake with your medicine delivery.
- You want to know when you will get your medicine.
- You need a refill earlier than usual.
Q: How much will my medicine cost?
A: The cost of your medicine will depend on your insurance plan. We will make sure to tell you what you will have to pay before ordering your medicines. If you can’t pay for your medicine, we are more than happy to work with organizations that can give you the most financial help.
Q: How can I pay for my medicine?
A: Your insurance may pay the full price. But if there is an additional amount you have to pay, we accept:
- Cash – in-person only
- Check – mail only
- Credit or Debit Card – in-person and over the phone
Q: Who will deliver my medicine if it is being shipped to me?
A: We offer free delivery services through UPS. We will let you know if you must sign for the package when we set up your delivery schedule.
Q: What if I miss a delivery?
A: As soon as you realize you have missed a delivery of your medicine, please call our call center immediately. We will give you some options for getting your medicine in good condition.
Q: How will I know if my shipment is delayed?
A: Even though we do our best to have your package delivered on time, there might be delays due to weather or other reasons. If this happens, our staff will reach out to you by phone or MyChart to let you know.
Q: What happens if UMMC Specialty Pharmacy can’t get my medicine?
A: We do everything we can to keep your service, but sometimes we have to send your prescription to another pharmacy. If that happens, we will make sure your prescription goes to the right pharmacy and give them your contact and insurance information. We will call you or send you a MyChart message to let you know about this change and give you the new pharmacy’s contact information.
Q: Where should I keep my medicine?
A: It is important to store your medicine like your UMMC pharmacist says you should. Keep all your medicines and medical supplies out of the reach of children and pets. If your medicine has to stay in the refrigerator, keep it in a special place, like a clean shelf or drawer. Put it in the refrigerator as soon as you get it. NEVER put your medicine in the freezer unless you are specifically told to.
