Overview

This clustered bar chart displays the percentage of Mississippi mothers who reported experiencing abuse during pregnancy by the source of abuse and survey year. Data are shown for 2019, 2020 and 2021 from the Mississippi Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS). Two abuse categories are presented: abuse by a husband or partner and abuse by an ex-husband or ex-partner. Percentages range from 0% to 10% on the vertical axis.

Values

For abuse by a husband or partner:

  • 2019: 3.4%
  • 2020: 1.8%
  • 2021: 1.7%

For abuse by an ex-husband or ex-partner:

  • 2019: 2.6%
  • 2020: 0.7%
  • 2021: 1.6%

Among reported abuse sources, abuse by a husband or partner was highest in 2019 at 3.4% and decreased to 1.8% in 2020 and 1.7% in 2021. Abuse by an ex-husband or ex-partner was 2.6% in 2019, declined to 0.7% in 2020 and increased to 1.6% in 2021. In all three years, reported abuse by a husband or partner was slightly higher than reported abuse by an ex-husband or ex-partner.
