Welcoming Dr. Juanyce D. Taylor and the Interdisciplinary Learning Lab to MEWI
We are excited to introduce Dr. Juanyce D. Taylor as the Director of the Interdisciplinary Learning Lab at the Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities (MEWI). Dr. Taylor's appointment marks a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to combat health disparities through innovative education and impactful research.
In her new role, Dr. Taylor is at the forefront of developing the Learning Lab into a vital resource for interdisciplinary education and research focused on health equity. The Learning Lab is designed to bring together students, academics, and health professionals in collaborative projects that address the root causes of health disparities in underserved communities.
Apart from her leadership at MEWI, Dr. Taylor also serves as the Director of Equity Initiatives at the John D. Bower School of Population Health at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Her primary focus at MEWI and the School of Population Health involves steering projects and research that involve multi-sector partnerships, emphasizing a community-centered approach to health improvement.
Dr. Taylor’s extensive experience in population health science and health administration enriches her capability to lead complex initiatives that bridge education with community action. She is a respected professor in both the Department of Population Health Science and the Department of Health Administration, where she shapes the educational landscape for future health leaders.
Additionally, Dr. Taylor is involved in many more roles throughout the UMC: advising the Group on Women in Medicine and Science, chairing the annual Pillars Awards, and leading the Diversity Accountability and Action Review Team. These positions underscore her commitment to fostering inclusivity and equity in every aspect of her work.
