Microsurgery

Microsurgery refers to reconstructive surgery requiring the use of microscopic magnification. Board-certified hand surgeons employ microscopic loupe magnification (worn on the head) or the full assembly operating microscope in the vast majority of surgical procedures. For hand surgeons, these cases include the entire scope of reconstructive and elective surgery needed as a result of traumatic injuries of the soft tissues/tendons/nerves, cancer or other neoplastic growths, congenital differences, and non-urgent procedures.

Procedures:

  • Free tissue transfer (i.e. free flap)
  • Nerve repair and reconstruction
  • Nerve transfer
  • Vessel repair and reconstruction
  • Cancer reconstruction
  • Advanced trauma reconstruction
