Director's Welcome
Dear Friends,

Welcome to the latest issue of MEWI in Motion.
Each edition of this newsletter gives us an opportunity to pause, reflect and recognize the people, partnerships and programs that move the mission of the Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities (MEWI) forward. This issue is especially meaningful because it highlights the breadth of work happening across MEWI – from community-centered care and maternal health initiatives to service, education, research and partnership.
You will read about the continued growth of CenteringPregnancy, an innovative model of group prenatal care that is creating new opportunities to support mothers and babies in Mississippi. You will also see the impact of our partners and community supporters, including efforts that strengthen the EversCare Clinic and help meet the needs of patients, families and communities across our state.
This issue also allows us to celebrate the people who make MEWI’s work possible. Our faculty, staff, trainees, students, community partners and advisory board members bring commitment and creativity to the shared goal of advancing health equity. Their work reminds us that meaningful change happens through trust, collaboration and a continued willingness to meet people where they are.
As MEWI grows, our mission remains clear. We are committed to addressing the factors that contribute to health disparities, expanding access to care, building strong community partnerships and helping create a healthier future for Mississippi.
With appreciation,
Victoria Gholar, DNP, PMH-BC
