Strengthening our commitment to health equity: welcome to MEWI's newest team members
The Myrlie Evers-Williams Institute is thrilled to welcome three exceptional individuals to our growing team, each with a unique set of skills and experiences that will further our mission of eliminating health disparities in Mississippi.

Joining us as our new patient care coordinator is DeKayla Wilson, who brings over five years of experience in healthcare. Most recently, DeKayla served as a medical assistant with the Rankin County Health Department, where she provided vital support to both staff and patients. With a strong foundation in clinical and administrative care, DeKayla is well-prepared to make a positive impact on our work and, most importantly, on the patients we serve.

We're also thrilled to welcome Tori Robinson as a population health specialist. With nearly two decades of experience in the mental health field, Tori has served in a variety of capacities, including therapist, case manager, and intake specialist, across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to supporting individuals on their journeys to wellness, believing strongly in the impact we can have on each person's life. Tori's passion for helping others and her commitment to promoting holistic, community-centered approaches to health will be invaluable assets to our team.

Rounding out our new hires is Carmen Brocks, who joins us as a project manager I, overseeing programs designed to address and reduce food insecurity through community outreach and resource coordination. With over 30 years of service in the Jackson Fire Department, including leadership roles such as Division Chief, Carmen brings deep experience in emergency response, strategic planning, and community engagement. Her work will continue to support vulnerable communities by improving access to essential services and promoting long-term stability.
"These three remarkable individuals embody the spirit of MEWI's mission," says MEWI Director of Operations Dashunda Bunton Bailey. "Their dedication, expertise, and passion for serving our communities will be instrumental as we work to create a healthier, more equitable future for all Mississippians."
As MEWI continues to grow and evolve, we are confident that DeKayla, Tori, and Carmen will play pivotal roles in helping us achieve our goals. Please join us in welcoming them to the team and supporting their efforts to make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.
