A message from the executive director
Welcome to the latest edition of MEWI in Motion, where we're thrilled to share the incredible progress our team has made in pursuit of our mission to eliminate health disparities in Mississippi.
As we reflect on the past year, I'm energized by the unwavering dedication and creativity of our staff, volunteers, and community partners. From the groundbreaking work of our Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education, and Policy (C-HAREP) to the development of our transformative Centering Pregnancy program, we've made significant strides in addressing some of the most persistent challenges facing our state.
Our Community Advisory Board's powerful historical tour of the University of Mississippi Medical Center was a poignant reminder of the importance of acknowledging the past as we chart a course towards a more equitable future. And the compassion and commitment of our volunteers, exemplified by inspiring individuals like Julia, continue to be the heartbeat that sustains our efforts.
Meanwhile, our "We Need To Talk" campaign is taking on the alarming rise in syphilis cases, while our newest team members – DeKayla Wilson, Tori Robinson, and Carmen Brocks – bring invaluable expertise and passion to their roles.
These are just a few of the incredible highlights you'll find in this edition. I encourage you to dive in and learn more about the transformative work happening at MEWI. Together, we are creating a healthier, more just Mississippi, one initiative at a time.
Thank you for your unwavering support. I look forward to continuing this journey with you.
