Captain Stephanie Horn
Stephanie Horn began her law enforcement career 18 years ago, initially serving in maximum security and as a prisoner transporter. These early experiences exposed her to the challenges faced by marginalized populations and inspired a deeper commitment to public service. Motivated by this passion, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Jackson State University while also graduating from the Jackson Police Academy, where she obtained her Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer’s Certification.
During her tenure with the Jackson Police Department, Stephanie distinguished herself through numerous notable arrests and as a dedicated service member of the Honor Guard. Her exceptional performance led to her advancement as one of Jackson’s lead Crime Scene Investigators, where she played a vital role in supporting major crime investigations across the city.
In 2021, Stephanie transitioned to the University of Mississippi Medical Center Police and Public Safety Department. Amid the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic—when both the healthcare system and law enforcement agencies faced extraordinary strain—Stephanie demonstrated resilience and leadership. She rose through the ranks, first as Patrol Sergeant, where her leadership qualities flourished. Stephanie then transitioned to the department’s Training Sergeant; a role in which she influenced departmental standards and practices across shifts. Her continued excellence earned her promotion to Captain, where she now plays a key role in guiding and shaping the department's mission and operations.
